Who we are. Tamil Global is a worldwide directory connecting the Tamil community with Tamil-owned businesses, services and events. Contact: hello@tamil.global.
What we collect. (1) Account details: name, email, and for businesses an organisation name. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us. (2) Listings you publish: business/event details and photos — these are public by design. (3) Your chosen browse location (country/city), stored on your device. If you use "Near Me", your device location is used momentarily to sort results and is not sent to our servers. (4) Feedback you send. (5) For business verification: a business licence or registration number and/or a photo of your business licence. (6) For community accounts: age, phone number, country, city and (optionally) gender — used to operate the service, tailor local content, and administer promotions such as our sign-up lucky draw. Draw entrants must be 18 or over; winners are contacted using the phone number or email provided.
Verification documents. Documents are uploaded to private, access-controlled storage. They are never displayed in the app, are viewable only by the Tamil Global review team for the sole purpose of verifying your business, and are deleted after review. We ask businesses to submit business documents, not personal identity documents.
How we use data. To operate the directory, display listings you choose to publish, show verification badges, and improve the service. We do not sell your data and do not show third-party advertising.
Where it lives. Data is stored with Supabase (our database and authentication provider) and served via Netlify. Both maintain industry-standard security certifications.
Your rights. You can delete your listings in the app at any time. To access, correct, or permanently delete your account and data, email hello@tamil.global — we respond within 30 days. EU/UK users have rights under GDPR; Canadian users under PIPEDA.
Cookies & local storage. We use your browser's local storage only to remember your language, location choice and login session. No tracking cookies, no analytics that identify you.
Children. Tamil Global is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes. We'll update this page when our practices change; material changes will be announced in the app.
